Vine Mealybug In-Season and Post Harvest Control in Grapes
COLLABORATORS: Jennifer Hashim-Buckey, UCCE Kern Co.
Vine mealybug is one of the most prolific pests of table grapes. Its exponential growth rate and affinity for feeding within clusters close to harvest make its management of highest priority for grape growers dealing with infested vineyards. We are focusing on in-season and post harvest trials to evaluate new insecticides for treatment of vine mealybug as well as refining the biology of the vine mealybug in Kern County.
